It is a good idea if
libraries participate on a social networking website as it gives them a better
mean to reach out their users and keep them aware regarding the library
services and or changes. For instance, the Bankstown Library can create a page
on Facebook on which they can detail all information regarding their upcoming
events and services they offer. With this, the customers can get notifications
on their news feed which will keep them informed and also give them the option
to ask any questions in regards to the post. Further, social networking website
also serves as a good option to gain first hand feedback as users can post
and/or comment on their opinion. This in turn will help the library to improve
their services as they will gain a good understanding of their customers’ likes
and dislikes. It can also give them new ideas for services they can offer in
the near future.
